Overview
Connecting coal and dry bulk cargo with the right ships
Dry bulk chartering is the core of Ocean Vista Shipbroker’s business. We connect coal exporters, commodity traders, power producers, steel and cement plants with shipowners and operators, and negotiate charter terms that work for both sides.
Our main focus is coal chartering from Indonesia to India and coal shipping from South Africa to India. On these routes we match vessel size and specification to load port draft, discharge port restrictions, cargo type and laycan — drawing on the founder’s experience as a Senior Master Mariner.
We also support the wider shipbroking services that charterers and owners need, from freight indications to post-fixture coordination.

FAQs
Dry bulk chartering – FAQs
What is the difference between a voyage charter and a time charter?
Under a voyage charter the shipowner carries a specific cargo between named ports for an agreed freight rate per tonne. Under a time charter the charterer hires the vessel for a period of time, pays daily hire and directs its employment, while the owner continues to manage the ship.
Which vessel size is best for coal from Indonesia to India?
It depends on cargo quantity and port limits. Supramax and Ultramax vessels suit smaller parcels and ports needing ship’s gear, while Panamax vessels are common for larger coal cargoes to deeper Indian ports.
What information do you need for a coal chartering enquiry?
Please share the cargo type and quantity, load and discharge ports, laycan, loading and discharge rates, and any vessel restrictions such as maximum age, draft or gear requirements.
Do you handle cargoes other than coal?
Yes. Besides thermal and coking coal we handle iron ore, petcoke, clinker, grain, minerals and other dry bulk commodities.
Have a cargo requirement or an open vessel?
Share the cargo, quantity, laycan and ports — or your vessel’s open position — and we will revert promptly.
