FAQs
Shipbroking services – FAQs
What is the difference between chartering and sale & purchase brokerage?
Chartering brokerage arranges the hire of a vessel for a voyage or a period, while sale and purchase (S&P) brokerage arranges the outright sale of the vessel itself from one owner to another.
How is a shipbroker paid?
Shipbrokers are usually paid a commission (brokerage) agreed in the charter party or sale contract, typically a percentage of freight, hire or the vessel’s sale price.
Can Ocean Vista handle enquiries outside Indonesia–India and South Africa–India?
Yes. While these are our primary trades, we welcome international dry bulk chartering, S&P and recycling enquiries.
